“Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is.
In the boredom and the pain of it, no less than the excitement and gladness;
touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it,
because in the last analysis all moments are key moments and life itself is grace.”
Frederick Buechner
Rody Rowe would like to invite you to the writers circle at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church.
Next meeting: Saturday, May 27th, 3 – 4:30 pm
Location: Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle.
What is it? A safe place to find encouragement and support for your writing.
How does it work? Once a month, writers gather at Phinney to offer a 5 minute piece of original writing in any genre. This is not a critique group, but rather a safe place to offer something out your own creative life.
Simply send me an email at rodyrowe@gmail.com expressing your interest. Questions welcomed. I will then try to find a day and time that works for most people. I am simply the convener of this group, my only qualifications being I have used writing as a core spiritual discipline my whole adult life. Refreshments and people of all ages always welcome.
Word of encouragement from Elisabeth Alexander :
“Writing is not like dancing or modeling; it’s not something where—if you missed it by age 19—you’re finished. It’s never too late. Your writing will only get better as you get older and wiser. If you write something beautiful and important, and the right person somehow discovers it, they will clear room for you on the bookshelves of the world—at any age. At least try.”
A word of caution from Mary Oliver:
“The most regretful people in the world are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave it neither time nor power.” Mary Oliver.
