Celebrating and observing the milestones of life is one of the great privileges and honors of the church. Whether you are new to St. Luke’s or are deeply rooted in our community, we welcome conversation about how we can support you and be a part of your life’s journey in all seasons.
We affirm marriage equality and are delighted to celebrate weddings with couples, regardless of gender. In the Episcopal Church it is required that at least one of the parties to be married is a baptized Christian and premarital counseling is required.
Weddings at St. Luke’s are distinctly Christian worship services. The priest presiding at your wedding will walk you through the various available liturgical options for your ceremony. If you are interested in getting married at St. Luke’s, Contact Us to set up a time to meet with one of our priests.
Couples planning to be married at St. Luke’s can fill out This Form for planning.
As Christians we believe that death is not the end – but that does not make loss hurt any less for those grieving the death of a loved one. It is our privilege to walk with all in grief, assist in planning a meaningful funeral, and commend the one who has died to the care of God.
If you have recently experienced the death of a loved one, you are welcome to contact us to meet with one of our priests.
It is never too soon to begin thinking about and preparing for your funeral. One gift we can give to those who love us is information about our desires and plans. This Funeral Pre-Planning Form is designed to be filled out for that purpose. We invite you to fill it out, share it with your loved ones, and keep a copy on file at St. Luke’s.
Nick believes in our shared responsibility to meet the needs of our neighbors. His favorite way to answer this call is by sharing food, which not only nourishes but also fosters connection and community. Nick brings a background in managing operations at a sustainable agriculture company, along with nearly two years of experience mediating and teaching at middle schools. He views Edible Hope as an incredible opportunity to combine his passion for serving others with hands-on work that uplifts the community, all while contributing to broader efforts to reshape our broken food system.

Andy moved to Seattle in 2012 from his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. He comes from a family that has operated a foster home and has done missionary work globally. When he is not working at Edible home, you can find him performing keyboards in clubs, kayaking in Salmon Bay, and hiking throughout the west coast. His experience and passion to help the less fortunate has led him to Edible Hope.

My name is Vince, and I’m honored to be with St. Luke’s. Previously I attended church at Epiphany, Seattle in the Madrona neighborhood. It’s where I was baptized (in 2019! I’m an adult convert). I am quite excited to be making this transition across town and joining in community with you all. I grew up in Yakima and have been living in Seattle for the last ten years. I studied philosophy at Whitman College and attempted to write my senior paper on neighborly love. So even though I wasn’t Christian yet, I’ve long wanted to better understand and more fully live out this way of life. I’m enrolled in seminary at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, the Episcopal seminary in Berkeley. And during the summer of 2024 I married the wonderful Keiko. I fill my non-study time with fixing up/breaking our house, going on long runs, swimming, and talking to our 12-year-old dog, Billie. Up until a couple months ago, I would have said I was a lifelong Mariners fan.
The Rev. Dr. Peter Rodgers is a retired priest and seminary professor.
I am a Seattle native and completed both my undergraduate and seminary studies at Seattle Pacific University. I served for six years as Associate for Youth Ministries at St. Thomas, Medina and it was there I discerned a call to ordained ministry. Following ordination, I was Curate at Good Samaritan, Sammamish for two years. In 2019, my family and I moved to Guatemala to serve for a year with the Episcopal Church in Guatemala and a remarkable organization called Safe Passage that works in education in the community surrounding the Guatemala City garbage dump. We moved back home suddenly in March 2020 due to Covid. For the last four and a half years, my work has been providing family support and coordination for organ donation which has been a surprising and fulfilling way to live out my vocation outside of parish ministry. In the midst of that work, I have also served as the part-time Associate Rector at Emmanuel, Mercer Island.

Welcome to St. Luke’s Church in Ballard where we seek to love our neighbors as God loves us all. Our neighborhood is rich in diversity and so are we. Together we are pilgrims on a spiritual journey, growing in faith, hope and love. Here you will find food along the way as well as opportunities to feed others who are hungry. Grow with our garden (the “SLUG”), feed the vulnerable with a daily breakfast and weekly lunch and belong to a community who prays, sings and listens for God each week.
