St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church traces its roots to the Church of England and is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion – a body within Christianity that encompasses 80 million members in 44 regional and national churches in more than 160 countries.

Episcopalians take seriously the ancient Christian faith we have inherited and seek to make it come alive in our contemporary world. Our faith is grounded in Scripture – the story of God found in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible; tradition – the embodiment of the Christian faith throughout history; and reason – our God-given ability to think critically.

While the Episcopal Church is broad and diverse, you will find many Episcopalians (including St. Luke’s) fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights, standing with indigenous immigrant populations, addressing systemic racism, and seeking to be better stewards of our natural world as we are confronted with the threats of climate change.
